Troubleshooting Your Yealink Phone
Overview
Something not working? This guide covers the most common issues with the Yealink T54W, T57W and the W59R cordless system. Most can be fixed in a few minutes.
Start Here: Try a Reboot First
Before anything else, try turning the phone off and back on again. Unplug it, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. It sounds simple but it fixes a surprising number of issues — it's the first thing our own team tries too.
Problem: No Dial Tone / Can't Make or Receive Calls
If you have a desk phone (T54W or T57W) showing "Network Unavailable":
- Check the ethernet cable — make sure it's securely plugged into the back of the phone and into the wall port or network switch
- Unplug the ethernet cable (and power adapter if used), wait 30 seconds, then plug back in
If your cordless handset (W59R) shows "No Service" or won't dial:
- Check the W70B base station has power and its network cable is firmly connected
- Unplug the base station, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in — the handset should reconnect automatically within a few minutes
- Make sure you're within a reasonable range of the base station
Problem: Poor Audio Quality (Choppy, Echo or Dropped Words)
Audio is choppy or cutting out:
- Run an internet speed test on a device connected to the same network — if it's slow or unstable, reboot your office router
- Pause any large downloads or video streaming on the network and see if quality improves
Echo or static on your end:
- Check that the coiled handset cord is securely plugged into both the handset and the phone base
- Try switching to speakerphone — if the echo disappears, the issue is with the physical handset cord
Callers say you sound distant:
- Make sure you're speaking directly into the handset microphone
- For W59R users — check you're within good range of the W70B base station, as walls and distance can weaken the signal
Problem: Phone Isn't Ringing
- Press the + volume key several times while the phone is idle to make sure the ringer volume is turned up
- Check for Do Not Disturb (DND) — look for a DND icon or a solid red light on the screen. If active, press the DND softkey to turn it off
Problem: Cordless Handset Says "Unregistered"
The handset has lost its connection to the base. To re-pair it:
- Press and hold the button on the W70B base station until the light starts flashing
- On the W59R handset, press OK > Settings > Registration > Register Handset
- Select your base and press OK — it should register automatically
Problem: Cordless Handset Won't Turn On
The battery is likely flat. Place the handset firmly in its charging cradle, make sure the cradle is plugged in, and leave it to charge for at least 30 minutes before trying again.
Still Having Issues?
If none of the above has helped, contact our support team. It helps to have the following ready:
- Your phone model (e.g. T54W, T57W or W59R)
- A description of the problem (e.g. "no dial tone", "callers can't hear me")
- Any error messages showing on screen
- What you've already tried
