Router Maintenance is a service included automatically on your Better Comms account. This article explains what it covers, when it is charged, and how to opt out.
What is Router Maintenance?
Router Maintenance is a monthly service designed to keep your router performing reliably, particularly as your manufacturer warranty comes to an end. If your router fails due to normal use, we will handle the replacement, programming, and delivery at no extra cost.
What does it include?
Router Maintenance provides:
- Free router replacement if your router fails due to normal use (saving up to £175.00 per router)
- Ongoing maintenance and performance checks
- Security updates to keep your connection protected
- Regular configuration backups for fast restoration
- Real-time monitoring to catch issues before they impact your service
- Quick and efficient support when you need it
What does it not cover?
Router Maintenance does not cover:
- Damage caused by overheating or misuse
- Engineer site visits — these are billed separately if requested
When is it charged?
- Router Maintenance is free for the first 12 months of your agreement
- It is charged at £7.99 per router per month from month 12 onwards
Is it mandatory?
No. Router Maintenance is an opt-out service. It is included automatically on all accounts but can be removed at any time by contacting us.
If you choose to opt out and your router fails you will be responsible for the cost of replacement and any associated programming and delivery charges.
How do I opt out?
Contact our billing team and we will arrange removal. This can be done at any time and will take effect from your next billing period.

- You would like to opt out of Router Maintenance
- You have a question about the charge on your invoice
- Your router has failed and you need a replacement arranged
